Sycamore & Millthorpe Cottage - Self Catering Accommodation
Our cottages are ideally situated for those visitors wishing to tour the Derbyshire Peak District due to their location in the villages of Barlow and Millthorpe. The most famous landmarks in thearea such as Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Castleton Caves, Matlock and Haddon Hall are all easily accessible. The market town of Chesterfield with the famous crooked spire is only a 10 minute drive away. Numerous local walks are accessible from both villages. The River Derwent is within a 15 minute drive of the cottages as it winds through the nearby villages of Calver and Baslow.
Sycamore Cottage is a 17th century stone built cottage. It has two bedrooms and it is in the lovely village of Barlow. With a modern styling and a cosy feel throughout, the accommodation features a spacious master bedroom with a king size bed, a light, bright twin/double room which will easily sleep two adults. On the patio, enjoy a glass of chilled wine as the sun sets behind the church spire. Excellent restaurants/pub and a tea-room within walking distance. In August the village of Barlow has its own carnival weekend where the villagers dress their gardens up and there are several well dressings which are beautiful.
Millthorpe Cottage is a modern cottage but with a home from home relaxed and cosy feel to it. The accommodation is all on one level with two bedrooms – the master bedroom has a king-size bed and the second bedroom has twin beds, this room would easily sleep two adults. Outside on the south facing patio enjoy sitting out and relaxing or going through the gate and down through the ford and out into the Peaks. Within the village The Royal Oak pub/restaurant is only a two minute walk away, they serve food most days. In the summer months you can watch the local cricket team play on Saturdays and Sundays. Also there’s Millthorpe well dressing in mid-July each year.
Since opening in 2002, our guest reviews have been excellent and we have repeat visits and recommendations from those who have enjoyed the cottages and the delights of the Peak District. Sycamore cottage have been decorated and furnished throughout to a high standard and four star English Tourism Council approved.
